CRUCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

The purpose of this course is to teach leaders to describe an outcome to such a degree that it provides the ability for them to monitor progress while maintaining the assurance that they can intervene when necessary. The course begins with a description of an outcome in contrast to an output.  It includes an explanation of the values of effectiveness as the primary focus of leadership and the techniques to analyze the outputs necessary to test the assumptions that underlie the approach to outcome attainment.  The course ends with practice in creating the metrics necessary for monitoring progress.  

Course content includes:

  • Decompose goals into measurable outcomes

  • Techniques for defining and agreeing on the deliverables tied to the outcomes

  • Techniques for defining and agreeing to the delivery schedule and reporting cadence that creates mutual confidence in progress and timelines

  • Practice describing outcomes and deliverables

  • Course emphasizes documentation, definition and negotiation skills

Approach including assumptions, hypothesis, & corresponding output

  • Techniques for describing detailed acceptance criteria

  • Techniques for defining metrics that provide insight into the state of the acceptance criteria

  • Learning to manipulate the 3 pillars of Scrum: Transparency, Inspection, and Adaption

  • Techniques for forming a conclusion on the acceptability of the work based upon metrics and objective observations of the acceptance criteria

  • Practice defining acceptance criteria and related metrics, and forming conclusion about work delivered

  • Course emphasizes the skills necessary for judging performance in an objective manner
